Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band are delighted to announce the appointment of their new President, Keith Fisher.
Keith is the longest serving member of the band, joining in 1952 on trombone. After serving 2 years National Service in the Royal Navy, he promptly returned to the band in 1957 and started a 40-year association on the trombone section next to the dear Stanley Cunningham. During his playing career he was a regular member of the Committee, Chairman and responsible for starting the Training Band which remains successful to this day.
However, there was probably a better reason for his quick return to the band in 1957 rather than playing the trombone. The Solo Horn player had taken his eye, and he promptly married the lovely Pamela Jackson in 1957. Without doubt, this has been his greatest achievement in his time in Bilton Silver!
After retiring as a playing member in 2010, he took on the position of Band-room Manager and continues to support the band in many ways; always attending concerts, donating towards fund raising ideas, donating music for the band to play and not least, regularly sitting through rehearsals and offering an ongoing critique of the evening over a beer with his friends after rehearsals.
Pamela also remains a regular supporter of the band and is highly commended for her fresh baking and refreshments kindly provided on the Christmas morning carolling rounds.
One of their 2 sons, Stuart, has continued the family trend within the Bilton Silver organisation with the next generation, Jodie and Jack becoming key members of the band.
Congratulations to Keith on his much-deservedappointment and what a great President he’ll make!
