Prize Winners

On Sunday 7th April 2019 our Euphonium section (Neil Kelsall and Samantha Edwards) joined the great display of musical talent on show at the Leicestershire Brass band Association’s annual Solo, Duet and Quartet competition, which was held at the Loughborough Endowed Schools Campus.

The event saw over 140 performances across 19 different sections, ranging from slow melody to air varies and involving all age groups.

In the Open Air Varie category Neil Kelsall, our Principal Euphonium player was placed 2nd, whilst in the Veterans Slow Melody Samantha pipped him to the post. Samantha was placed 2nd and Neil joint 3rd place.  In the Open Duet section they were placed 1st.

As if their fantastic display of musicality at the contest wasn’t enough,  Samantha has also recently completed her Grade 8 on Euphonium. Prepped for the exam by Sheila Allen (former Principal Cornet Player at Bilton and now playing Repiano Cornet with the prestigious Flowers Band), she achieved a distinction with a fantastic 142 marks.

What a fantastic Euphonium section Bilton has, well done to Neil and Samantha!
