Brass for Bwengu
A collaboration of brass players from Bilton Silver Training Band and Crescent School took to the stage in the prestigious Temple Speech Room in Rugby on Friday 16th June.
Compere for the evening, Jack Fisher, led the way and with over 80 brass players on stage. The evening offered a varied and entertaining programme, including items from Crescent Mini Brass, Crescent Brass Group and Bilton Silver Training Band
With accompanist Rob Colley kindly offering his services, the young and exceptional Crescent School trombonist, Felicity Angell, was the first soloist of the evening to be featured with a fine performance of ‘The Pink Panther’. This was followed by solo items from 3 talented Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band players, all past Crescent School pupils; Anais Huning on French Horn, Jodie Fisher on Cornet and Jack Fisher on Marimba. All 3 players have progressed to the Senior Band through the Training Band process, with Jodie and Anais heavily involved in the running of the Training Band, and Jack being the Musical Director of the Bilton Silver (Evolution) Band.
Thanks to the efforts of players and organisers alike, supported by an amazing audience and atmosphere, a fantastic total of £1090.65 was raised for the Bwengu Project. This is a project that works in north Malawi, completing various building projects at local village schools, churches and medical centers and generally supporting the community.
