For the third consecutive year, Bilton Silver visited Cheltenham Racecourse for the National Finals of the Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and were awarded 2nd Place.
Of the top 18 bands from the Second Section, Bilton were drawn to play number 5; taking to the stage around 11:00am. In front of the faithful crowd, Bilton performed the test piece with a precise execution. The adjudicators obviously enjoyed their interpretation of Kenneth Downie’s Purcell Variations and awarded the soloist prize, for a second time running, to our very own solo horn player, Paul Bennett.
This marks the last time that Bilton Silver will be competing in the Second Section for (at least) a couple of years pending their promotion to the First Section from the start of 2014.
