Celebration of Success – 2 Dec 2012

An exciting new Bilton Silver Training Band event took place at the band room on Sunday 2nd December 2012 with a ‘Celebration of Success’ for 2012.

Breaking with tradition, the annual ‘Junior Contest’ which had taken place over several decades was replaced with a more modern and appropriate ‘Celebration of Success’ intended to be a celebration of the success of every member during 2012. The afternoon proved to be just that.

With standing room only, the Training Band gave a short concert to a most appreciative audience. The request for any willing soloists was not to disappoint as several members took the stage and performed with a confidence that many senior band members would love to equal. The courage of one of our adult members, Fiona Haggett, who performed solo for the first time in public with great determination and success, deserves a special mention – well done Fiona!

A performance by the newly formed ‘Academy4Youth’ could only be described as ‘playing of the highest quality’ with Alex, Jodie, Charlie, Jack and Matt all giving the younger members something to aspire to and rounding off the afternoon performances in true style.

The Award Ceremony followed with a new selection of Awards, generously donated by band members, vice-presidents, life members and the Band President. Presentations were made to those members who had shown outstanding progress, effort, enthusiasm, attitude and last but certainly not least, attendance throughout the year.
