It was a beautiful day in Northamptonshire on Sunday May 7th 2023, as Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band celebrated the coronation of King Charles III in the village of Crick. The streets were decorated with bunting, and the air was filled with the sounds of laughter and the scent of beer as hundreds attended with deckchairs, tables and picnics in the spring sunshine to enjoy a day of history in the making.
The event was a celebration of Britain’s long history and tradition, and Bilton Silver Band was honoured to be a part of it. The band played a significant role in making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The band, led by their talented musical director, Brad Turnbull, showcased their skills with a wide selection of songs spread over two 45 minutes sets. From classical pieces such as ‘I Vow To Thee’ to more contemporary arrangements such as S Club 7’s ‘Reach’, the band had the crowd dancing and clapping along. The sound of brass instruments filled the air and the atmosphere was electric.
This was a significant event for the band, as it was Brad Turnbull’s first public appearance as Musical Director since his appointment in April. Brad, who is an experienced musician and conductor, brought his wealth of knowledge (along with a Union Jack waistcoat and bow tie) to the event and the band delivered an exceptional performance.
The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the music, and the band received a rousing round of applause at the end of each set. It was a triumph for the band, and they left a lasting impression on all those who attended.
Overall, it was a fantastic day for the Bilton Silver Band, and they proved once again why they are one of the favourite brass bands in the area. Their musical prowess, professionalism, and sheer enthusiasm shone through, and with Brad Turnbull at the helm, the future looks bright for this fabulous band.
